Patient Participation Group

A description of the profile of the patients of the Practice:

Our practice is a well-established GP practice working under a PMS contract with Rotherham Place. We draw our patients from both the immediate area (Bramley and Wickersley) as well as many surrounding villages. We have approximately 7,000 patients spread across all age groups and although the large majority of our patients are recorded as being “White British” we do also have a number of patients from other ethnic backgrounds.

18% of the practice population are under 16 years of age, 62% are either in education / working and 20% are retired.

Formation of a Patient Participation Group (PPG):

The practice is looking to form an online PPG which will be eventually formed of both sexes and a variety of ages. If you wish to join the PPG please inform our receptionists or email us at syicb-rotherham.wmpppg@nhs.net.

Common patient questions and answers

Why are you asking patients for their contact details?

We would like to be able to contact patients and carers occasionally to ask them questions about the practice and how well we are doing to identify areas for improvement.

Will my doctor see this information?

This information is purely to contact patients to ask them questions about the practice, how well we are doing and ensure changes that are being made are patient focused. If your doctor is responsible for making some of the changes in the practice they might see general feedback from patients.

Will the questions you ask me be medical or personal?

We will only ask general questions about the practice, such as short questionnaires.

Who else will be able to access my contact details?

Your contact details will be kept safely and securely and will only be used for this purpose and will not be shared with anyone else.

How often will you contact me?

Not very often, probably every other month

What is a patient group/patient participation group?

This is a group of volunteer patients who are involved in making sure the practice provides the services its patients need.

Do I have to leave my contact details?

No, but if you change your mind, please let us know.

What if I no longer wish to be on the contact list or if I leave the practice?

We will ask you to let us know by email if you do not wish to receive further messages.

Please note

  • the PPG is an opportunity for the Practice and the patients to communicate and discuss changes within the practice and to gain feedback and ideas from the patients.
  • it is hoped to be a productive platform and to that extent specific patient problems cannot be discussed.
  • the meeting is not the appropriate place to raise personal issues or complaints, these should be raised outside the meeting.
